US singer, songwriter, and pianist. A vastly talented musician and popular singer, he recorded gospel, blues, rock, soul, country, and rhythm and blues. His numerous hit records include I've Got a Woman (1955), What'd I Say (1959), Georgia on My Mind (1960), and Hit the Road, Jack (1961), as well as the live albums, Ray Charles at Newport (1958) and Ray Charles in Person (1960).
The five points of the star represent the unity of farmers, workers, intellectuals, soldiers, and youth in establishing socialism. Red stands for revolution and bloodshed. Effective date: 2 July 1976.
