Ancient city in Palestine (now Qisarya). It was built by Herod the Great 2212 BC, and named in honour of the Roman emperor Augustus. The constructions included an artificial harbour (portus Augusti). Caesarea was the administrative capital of the Roman province of Judaea.
Yellow stands for grain and freedom from need. Green symbolizes the forests and hope. Red represents bloodshed and courage. Effective date: 20 March 1989.
