A gourmand is someone who is excessively fond of food and drink: He's a real gourmand, and never stints on his weekly shopping. A gourmet is a connoisseur of food and drink: TV cookery expert Graham Kerr was nicknamed the 'Galloping Gourmet' because he produced exquisite dishes with lightning speed. Remember the u when spelling these two words.
