Barnsley, Michael
British computer graphics researcher who in the mid-1980s developed fractal image compression. In Fractals Everywhere (1988) he sets out the use of fractal geometry as a language that allows the precise description of any object, thereby making it possible to program computers to produce even the most complex images.
