Dictionary of Computers - command line interface
command line interface
Character-based interface in which a prompt is displayed on the screen at which the user types a command, followed by carriage return, at which point the command, if valid, is executed. Additional options may be used after the command in a line; these are known as command line parameters.
A typical example of a command line interface was the DOS prompt.
