Q. What is the difference between the products?
A. The Norton products provide different levels of security cover. You can find out which suits the way you use the web best,
here. Norton Anti-virus is a stand-alone version of that particular product, just like you'd find when buying it in the high street. Norton Internet Security combines Norton Anti-virus and Norton Personal Firewall, but offers additional protection. Norton 360 tops the lot, offering Norton Anti Virus, Norton Internet Security plus backup, web site authentication, PC tune-up and wireless hotspot security. In addition, gamers do not need to switch off their firewall as it enables them to play securely. More details about the products can be found from the

Q. What are the advantages of buying a subscription online, rather than simply buying the CD as I normally would?
A. Online subscription gives you multiple payment options and also ensures that you get the latest virus definitions, security and software updates, offering complete peace of mind at all times. Also, as a Tiscali member, you will benefit from some exclusive discounts as a result of our partnership with Symantec, the world leader in security software. For example we offer 17% off Norton 360. This means that if you set up a subscription, you will always be charged at that preferntial rate. The same applies to the 25% discount for Norton Internet Security.
Q. How long will it take to download the software?
A. The downloads are not that large. If you have a dial-up account, it may take a long time to download the software, depending on your connection speed and PC. Remember that you don't have to do it all in one go - the download manager will remember where you got to and start again from there if necessary, so downloading in chunks is possible.
Q. What do I need to use this software?
A. All the latest products are compatible with Vista and modern PCs’ operating systems. The exceptions are the 2006 products which are only compatible with Windows 2000 and Windows XP (Home and Professional versions). Please note that if you mistakenly buy a product that is not compatible with your system, we will be unable to refund you. Please note that this software is NOT compatible with Apple Mac.
Q. I can't see a 2006 version of Norton Personal Firewall on the Secure PC pages - what do I do if I want to upgrade to the 2006 version?
A. You can still upgrade to the 2006 version of this product by
clicking here. Alternatively, we would recommend upgrading to Norton Internet Security to enjoy all the additional benefits this product offers.
Q. If I have a problem with the software what should I do? I'm not sure whether to call Tiscali or Symantec...
A. Symantec are providing the physical software to you, so any questions of a technical nature should be directed to them - e.g problems with installation, functionality, features, compatibility etc. You should contact Tiscali if you require assistance with billing, activation, or your subscription. Q. How large is each downloadable file?
A. The Download Manager manages the download process for you. As such, file sizes are far less of an issue. If you have to, you can pause a download and the Download Manager will remember the point that this happended and resume download either when it is quieter or when you ask it to..
Q. What if my connection cuts off or drops during the middle of the download? Will I have to start again from the beginning of the process?
A. At the start of the download, you will receive a very small application called the Symantec Download Manager. This utility is able to remember exactly at what point the download stopped, should the connection be lost, and carry on from that point when you next connect to the internet.
Q. How does the activation process work?
A. When you sign up for the software, you will receive a unique User Subscription PIN link. When you download your software you are normally automatically activated. However, if you are not, then click on the link that you were originally sent. If you are asked to manually enter your PIN you can do so by finding it from you’re the ‘My Account page here -

The software will continue to be active until you tell us otherwise, assuming the payment method you chose remains valid (e.g credit card expiry date, direct debit bank account details, etc).
Q. Can I only use this activation code for myself? Can I use it to install software on other machines, or to give to my friends?
A. The code is only intended to be used by one person, on one machine. If you give the code to a friend, then he/she will be able to install and activate, but the original installation will cease to function, leaving your PC in question unprotected. To avoid this you will need to purchase as many product subscriptions as necessary for your needs, on a per-machine basis.
Q. I'm not sure if the products are right for me, or whether they will work with my system. Can I try them out before committing?
A. Not currently. In the meantime, you can gather all the information you need from the main
product page or by using the
comparison page.
Q. What happens if I want to upgrade from one Norton product to another, or if I have older versions of Symantec software installed?
A. Typically, the Symantec installer application will detect existing versions or upgrade attempts, and advise accordingly. It will only require you to uninstall an existing Norton product if that product is older than two years old and has not been updated with the latest upgrades.
Q. I only have a Pay as You Go Tiscali account. Do I still qualify for the discounted rate Symantec products?
A. Yes, anyone with a Tiscali account qualifies for these prices.
Q. What happens if I decide the product isn't right for me and want to cancel my subscription?
A. You should contact Tiscali support to cancel your subscription. If you are paying monthly, payments will stop with immediate effect. If you are paying annually, then unfortunately we cannot offer any refunds, unless you cancel within seven working days of your original subscription. In both cases, the product will stop working as soon as the cancellation takes effect.
Q. I understand that I get all the software updates and virus definitions for the duration of my subscription, but how do I get these?
A. Typically updates happen automatically. However, if you want to you can configure the software to look for updates whenever it senses an internet connection or at a convenient time, or you can manually obtain live updates from within the software interface.
