Money for your old mobile made easy
Tiscali, the broadband, telephone and media company, today announces the launch of 'Tiscali Recycles', a new service offering consumers the opportunity to join the green revolution by getting paid to recycle. Visitors to the Tiscali portal can use a Recycle Calculator to work out how much their old mobile phone is worth before trading it in for cash online by following three simple steps.
All mobile phones recycled as part of the scheme are handled responsibly in line with both the EU's WEEE Directive and DEFRA's rules on safeguarding the environment and responsible recycling. Users who sign up to the scheme, which features over 40 mobile phone brands including Nokia, BlackBerry and Sony Ericsson, could earn up to £150 for their old handset. Users can recycle as many phones as they wish. A typical family of four for instance could earn themselves £296.10 from trading in Dad's Nokia N95, Mum's Samsung X600, their son's Motorola V8 and daughter's Nokia 7373.
Alex Hole, online media director, Tiscali UK says: "There are an estimated 800 million redundant mobile phones gathering dust globally. These phones could be put to much better use in developing countries. By setting up this scheme we are giving our users the opportunity to do a little bit for the environment. This service further enhances our green content. In 2007 we launched a Green cars and Green money section and we will launch a Green channel early in 2008".
