Tiscali, the internet and broadband company, today announces its official sponsorship of the 2006 The Times BFI 50th London Film Festival, the UK's most prestigious film industry event from 18 October to 2 November 2006.
Tiscali will be bringing the UK's largest public film festival, available to everyone online through the Tiscali web site (www.tiscali.co.uk/lff). As part of a dedicated section, members of the public will be able to share the festival around the country and view trailers of all of the top films being screened over the two weeks including both the opening and closing night gala films, The Last King of Scotland and Babel.
As well as this, film lovers will have access to exclusive red carpet action, special Festival events and the latest interviews with the stars appearing at the Festival including Ben Afflect, Forest Whitaker and Jude Law.
The London Film Festival, organised by the BFI, is this year celebrating its 50th anniversary and will showcase the best of UK and world cinema to the public in a number of venues around central London.
Tiscali is also the exclusive partner of a very special event to be held in Trafalgar Square, 'A Portrait of London', at 7pm on Friday 27th October and artistically directed by Mike Figgis (Leaving Las Vegas, One Night Stand and Timecode). More information on this special event will be released shortly.
On 28 October, the Tiscali Gala will host a screening of Fast Food Nation at the Odeon West End in Leicester Square. Neal McCleave, managing director of Media Services at Tiscali UK, says: "It is clear by the continuing success of this festival that the British public are still in love with film and the cinema. People are also taking their love of film into their homes with an increasing popularity for video and film on demand. We want a wider audience to share in the Festival's excitement and hope that through our support, we will ensure that people across the UK will be able to enjoy the Festival and maybe even decide to come to London for a visit during the Festival next year."
