In a unique collaboration with Revolution Films, producers of the much talked about new Michael Winterbottom film 'The Road to Guantanamo', has teamed up with Tiscali, the internet and broadband company, to offer the film for download immediately after it is released.
As soon as the film is aired on Channel 4, Thursday 9 March, film fans who missed the broadcast will be able to 'rent' or 'own' it as a download from the Tiscali site for £2.99 and £4.99 respectively. The film will also go into cinemas that weekend and will be released on dvd a week later. This highly unique deal, brokered by the UK Film Council, is designed to make the film available to the widest audience possible.
Richard Ayers editor of tiscali.co.uk, who forged the deal says: "We are very proud to be able to bring this critcally acclaimed film to a broadband audience. It is refreshing to see both the director and producer understand the value of the internet in reaching an audience that may not otherwise have a chance to see it. I just wish more distributors and producers shared their perspective in seeing the internet as a partner and not a threat."
Tiscali has a robust platform for legal movie downloads to rent with full Digital Rights Management. Only UK internet users will be able to download the film.
