Tiscali first to sell affordable plug-and-play broadband for home networking, online gaming and wireless

Following the recent announcement of its groundbreaking £15.99 DSL broadband service, Tiscali announces today the launch of a complete range of plug-and-play consumer broadband packages that include Ethernet Broadband for home networking and online gaming, WiFi Broadband for wireless connectivity and a super-fast 1Mbps Broadband trial during October.

By 28 October consumers will be able to choose from three speeds (256Kbps, 512Kbps and 1Mbps) all available with a free USB modem and the option to choose ethernet and WiFi modem connectivity packages on the 512Kbps and 1Mbps services.

Ethernet Broadband
The new Ethernet Broadband package is designed for families, home offices and small businesses wanting to run more than one computer on the broadband service. This means that the user can create a local network with multiple computers sharing the broadband connection.

The Ethernet Broadband service is also an online gamer's dream as this off-the-shelf package will allow simultaneous connection to a games console using the speed of broadband to enhance the online gaming experience. The Ethernet modem is pre-approved for use with Microsoft's Xbox and the Sony Playstation.

WiFi Broadband
The WiFi Broadband package offers simple wireless connectivity and mobility in the home and is ideal for users wanting the flexibility to use their laptop anywhere in the house or garden (30m range). The Wireless network allows the user to connect multiple PCs, laptops and games consoles without cable connections.

Both Ethernet and WiFi will be available at speeds of up to ten and 20 times faster than dial-up (512Kbps and 1Mbps). Tiscali will provide both the Internet access and the hardware that will make sophisticated home broadband not just affordable but hassle-free to install too. The new broadband packages will be preconfigured with the user name and password so no set up is required.

According to Steve Horley, ISP director at Tiscali, the company believes that these new packages not only offer UK consumers the most innovative broadband products on the market, but also the more sophisticated packages that experienced broadband users are going to be looking for next.
