LONDON (Reuters) - Maxine Carr, the former fiancee of Soham schoolgirls’ murderer Ian Huntley, has appeared in court on fraud charges.
Carr, 27, serving a 3-1/2 year jail sentence for lying to police during the murder investigation, faced charges of benefit fraud and of lying in job applications.
Two of the charges involved allegedly false claims made on job applications for posts at the school attended by the victims Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman.
In contrast to the angry street scenes when Carr first appeared at Peterborough Magistrates’ Court in the wake of the August 2002 murders, her arrival on Friday was low-key.
She will appear at Peterborough Crown Court on April 23.
Last month, the Prison Service rejected a bid by Carr to win early release from jail.
