Mayoral war of words

Here are some quotes from the contenders and others as the campaign for London Mayor approaches its final phase.

"I am very pro-cycling. Boris is a keen cyclist, not always to the highest standards, it has to be said. Mind you, I'm not one to talk" - Opposition leader David Cameron, who was recently caught cycling the wrong way up a one-way street, on the Tory candidate, Boris Johnson.

"A complete fool" - Labour candidate and current Mayor Ken Livingstone's description of the Liberal Democrat candidate, Brian Paddick.

"A really nasty little man" - Brian Paddick's opinion of Ken Livingstone.

"The new suit he acquired last autumn remains impressively unblotched by custard or boiled egg. We are not talking Beau Brummel, but he is definitely worth the dry cleaner's vote" - Political commentator Quentin Letts on Boris Johnson.
