NEW YORK (Hollywood Reporter) - Days before the release of its big summer movie "Journey to the Center of the Earth," producer Walden Media has acquired a talking-animal comedy.
The project, titled "Housebroken," revolves around a group of animals forced to live under the same roof when their respective owners move in together. It’s based on a pitch from "Made of Honor" scribe Adam Sztykiel, who will write the screenplay.
"Housebroken" will combine computer-generated and live action in the manner of such Walden films as "Charlotte’s Web" and the "Chronicles of Narnia" series. The movie likely would be released by Fox under the studio’s deal with Walden.
"Journey to the Center of the Earth," starring Brendan Fraser, opens July 11 via Warner Bros. Walden Media, owned by Denver billionaire Philip Anschutz, is currently in theatres with the Disney-distributed disappointment "The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian," which has earned about $138 million (70 billion pounds) domestically after eight weeks. Its 2005 predecessor, "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe," made $292 million.
