Sex and the City stays top of UK box office

LONDON (Reuters) - "Sex and the City" held on to the UK box office top spot for a second week in its blockbuster battle with Indiana Jones, according to Screen International.

The film version of the hit TV series featuring Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis took 3.1 million pounds for a two-week total of 16.1 million.

"Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull," with Harrison Ford back in the role after nearly two decades, took 2.7 million for a fortnight’s 32.7 million pound total.

New at three was genre spoof "Superhero Movie," with Leslie Nielsen and Pamela Anderson in a tale of high-school geek turned world-saver.

Teen horror flick "Prom Night" made its debut at four while new at five was Ben Affleck’s directing debut in "Gone Baby Gone," an intense tale of child abduction and drug addiction in Boston.

Down three places at six was "What Happens in Vegas," with Cameron Diaz and Ashton Kutcher living with the bittersweet consequences of a quickie marriage, while superhero caper "Iron Man" was down at seven from four.

Bollywood dynastic drama "Sarkar Raj" was new at eight and coming in at nine was "Mongol," the epic tale of Genghis Khan’s early years.
