LONDON (Reuters) - Unbeaten filly Zarkava earned a 7-1 quote for the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe in October after a facile victory in Sunday’s French Oaks at Chantilly.
Winning jockey Christophe Soumillon blew kisses to the crowd as Zarkava cruised home, prompting owner the Aga Khan to consider the Arc, a showpiece finale to the European season.
Bookmakers in England have installed Epsom Coronation Cup winner Soldier of Fortune as 4-1 favourite with Saturday’s Derby hero New Approach at 6-1, just ahead of Zarkava, who has now won all her five races.
New Approach’s more immediate target is the June 29 Irish Derby at the Curragh where he is rated a hot 4-6 favourite.
