Stuntman hurt on Bond set in Italy
Enlarge imageLONDON (Reuters) - A stuntman was seriously injured in an accident on the Italian set of the latest James Bond movie, the production company said.
It was the second accident in the last few days near Lake Garda, northern Italy, where scenes from the 22nd instalment in the Bond franchise called "Quantum of Solace" are being shot.
British media reported this week that a driver of Bond’s Aston Martin DBS skidded off the road and plunged into icy waters.
Fraser Dunn was slightly injured, but was quoted as saying that he regained consciousness only when the car was at the bottom of the lake and had to break free of the vehicle and swim for safety.
In the latest incident on Wednesday, an experienced stunt driver behind the wheel of an Alfa Romeo was hurt in an accident and was rushed to hospital.
In a statement released late on Wednesday, the producers said he remained in serious condition.
"Filming with the second unit on ’Quantum of Solace’ will be suspended tomorrow (Thursday) while the accident is investigated," EON Productions said.
Neither director Marc Forster, Bond star Daniel Craig nor any other cast members were at the Lake Garda location when the accident occurred.
Earlier this month, the mayor of a remote northern Chilean town burst onto the "Quantum of Solace" set and was detained by police.

He said he interrupted filming because he was angry at what he called an excessive police presence in the small town because of the filming, and the fact that Chilean soil was being used to represent neighbouring Bolivia.Reuters/Nielsen
