Casino caper "21" keeps top UK box office spot

LONDON (Reuters) - The blackjack card-counters of "21" kept their UK box office top spot for a second week, keeping Matthew McConaughey and Kate Hudson down in second place, according to Screen International on Tuesday.

Featuring Kevin Spacey, the true story of how a gang of maths prodigies sets out to make a fortune, made 1.01 million pounds for a 3.4 million total.

"Fool’s Gold," with Hudson and McConaughey as a pair of bickering treasure hunters pushed back together by the prospect of undersea riches, opened at No.2.

Coming in at three after previously being on release in Ireland was "In Bruges," with Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson as hitmen lying low in Belgium after a failed assassination.

"Street Kings," new at four, features Keanu Reeves in a tale of corruption in the Los Angeles Police department.

Down three places at five was "Son of Rambow," the nostalgic story of two boys in the 1980s re-enacting the exploits of Sylvester Stallone.

At six, down two, was the haunted house of "The Spiderwick Chronicles", while also down two, at seven, was Dance-school caper "Step Up 2 The Streets."

The biggest faller of the week, down five places, was former chart-topping wedding comedy "27 Dresses."

starring Sally Hawkins as a chirpy primary school teacher dealing effortlessly with life, pupils and driving lessons.

At 10, down three places, was "Horton Hears a Who," Dr Seuss’s animated tale of an elephant trying to save a microscopic world on a speck of dust.
