LONDON (Reuters) - A gang of blackjack-beaters topped the film charts over the weekend, keeping "Son of Rambow" down in second place for another week, according to Screen International.
"21," which features Kevin Spacey in the true story of how a gang of maths prodigies sets out to make a fortune, made 1.65 million pounds in its opening week.
Son of Rambow, the nostalgic story of two boys in the 1980s re-enacting the exploits of Sylvester Stallone, made 749,760 pounds for a fortnight’s total of 2.34 million pounds.
Down at three was last week’s No. 1, wedding comedy "27 Dresses," with Katherine Heigl of "Grey’s Anatomy" fame.
Reversing its slide and rising one place to four was "The Spiderwick Chronicles", the story of a New York couple and their three children moving into one of moviedom’s spookiest houses.
Dance-school caper "Step Up 2 The Streets," a successor to 2006’s "Step Up," was down two at five, while romantic comedy "Leatherheads," starring George Clooney as a 1920s American football coach, was new at six.
Down one place at seven was Dr Seuss with "Horton Hears a Who," the animated tale of an elephant trying to save a microscopic world on a speck of dust.
