Clark maintains lead in rainy Colonial Invitational

FORT WORTH, Texas (Reuters) - South African Tim Clark held on to a one-shot lead as the water-logged second round of the Colonial Invitational tournament finally finished on Saturday, nearly 24 hours behind schedule.

Third-round action began late on Saturday but with no chance of finishing play on the same day and the PGA Tour event faced a long Sunday or a rare Monday finish.

The 36-hole cut came at one-under-par 139, the lowest cut in the 61-year-history of the tournament due to the rain-saturated greens.

Second-round leader Clark finished his second round early on Friday at the par-70 Colonial Country Club layout and then had to wait nearly a day to begin his third round.

American Arron Oberholser was one shot behind at 10 under par. World number three Jim Furyk was two shots behind at eight under, tied for third with Australian Nathan Green who lives in nearby Plano, Texas, and former British Open champion Ben Curtis.

German Alex Cejka was tied for sixth at six-under 132 with Kevin Na of South Korea and American first-round leader Anthony Kim, at 21 the youngest player on the PGA Tour.

Clark is seeking his first Tour victory while battling a chronic neck condition which has troubled him for the last six months.

"I hate to quit playing when I’m doing well but I know I need to take some time off to .....continued below
