LOS ANGELES/CANNES, France (Hollywood Reporter) - Mike Myers is attached to star in "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty," the long-in-the works remake of the 1947 Danny Kaye classic.
Jay Kogen, a writer-producer on such shows as "Frasier" and "Malcolm in the Middle," is penning the movie for 20th Century Fox.
This is the latest incarnation for "Mitty," which over the years has attracted the likes of Jim Carrey and Eddie Murphy -- and even Whoopi Goldberg, in a "Martha Mitty" version. Directors who came and went included Steven Spielberg and Chuck Russell ("The Mask"). The title character originally appeared in a short story by James Thurber.
"Mitty" centres on a quintessential daydreamer whose vivid imagination enables him to escape from the mundane constraints of his ordinary life.
Myers’ next project is "The Love Guru," a comedy he co-wrote based on a character he created. Projects he is attached to star in include Paramount’s "How to Survive a Robot Uprising." His voice work is currently onscreen as the title character in "Shrek the Third."
