LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Rachel Weisz has dropped out of "The Mummy 3," the latest instalment of the blockbuster action franchise.
Brendan Fraser will return for the Universal Pictures project, which will be set in China and also feature action hero Jet Li. Rob Cohen ("The Fast and the Furious") will direct. The previous "Mummy" films, directed by Stephen Sommers, were released in 1999 and 2001.
The British actress won an Oscar last year for her supporting role in "The Constant Gardener" and then had a baby with her fiance, director Darren Aronofsky. Universal cited scheduling conflicts for Weisz’s departure.
