TEHRAN (Reuters) - Iran’s president said on Wednesday he was "saddened" by what he called the violation of Iran’s borders by 15 British naval personnel and said he was sorry that London was not "brave enough" to admit to its action.
"The Iranian government is sorry the British government is not brave enough to confess its mistake over entering Iranian waters," Mahmoud Ahmadinejad told a new conference, adding that the Iranian nation was "saddened" by Britain’s action.
He also awarded a medal to an Iranian naval commander after the detention of the Britons, but did not make any new demands.
