Ireland's Horan ruled out of Scotland game

10/03/2007 17:02

EDINBURGH (Reuters) - Prop Marcus Horan has been ruled out the Ireland team to play Scotland in the Six Nations Championship on Saturday after picking up a calf strain on Friday.

The Ireland medical team will reassess the injury after the weekend to see if Horan will be fit to face Italy.

Simon Best moves off the bench to start his first Six Nations match at loosehead and Ulster prop Bryan Young has been called into the squad among the replacements as Ireland seek to secure the Triple Crown at Murrayfield.

Wing three-quarter Denis Hickie came through the morning’s training session showing no reaction to a back spasm he suffered on Thursday. Geordan Murphy remains with the squad as a precaution.

Team - 15-Girvan Dempsey; 14-Shane Horgan, 13-Brian O’Driscoll, 12-Gordon D’Arcy, 11-Denis Hickie; 10-Ronan O’Gara, 9-Peter Stringer; 8-Denis Leamy, 7-David Wallace, 6-Simon Easterby, 5-Paul O’Connell, 4-Donncha O’Callaghan, 3-John Hayes, 2-Rory Best, 1-Simon Best. Subs 16-Jerry Flannery, 17-Bryan Young, 18-Mick O’Driscoll, 19-Neil Best, 20-Eoin Reddan, 21-Paddy Wallace, 22-Andrew Trimble.
