LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Theatre actor Andrew Garfield will make his feature film debut in the heady company of Tom Cruise, Meryl Streep and Robert Redford in the ensemble drama "Lions for Lambs."

Redford will also direct the project for MGM’s United Artists banner, which is run by Cruise and production partner Paula Wagner.

The film features three interconnected plotlines: a congressman who interacts with a journalist; an idealistic professor who attempts to inspire a privileged student in his class; and a pair of American soldiers wounded in enemy territory in Afghanistan, one of whom is the professor’s former student.

Garfield recently was named most promising newcomer at the Critics Circle Theatre Awards and outstanding newcomer at the Evening Standard Awards for his work at the Royal National Theatre.
