The legendary Tim Finn appeared live at a special acoustic October Tiscali Showcase, recorded at the Gibson Rooms in London, and you can watch video from the event exclusively right here in the Tiscali Music Showcase section.
Tim Finn, the exceptionally gifted singer/songwriter from Te Awamutu, New Zealand returns with his new studio album, Imaginary Kingdom. Imaginary Kingdom will be preceded by the first single Couldn't Be Done, which went straight on to the Radio 2 and BBC London playlists.
Finn has enjoyed a varied and remarkable career, from his days as founder of legendary 70's/80's art-pop group Split Enz to his time in Crowded House with brother (and former Split Enz band mate) Neil, as well as an outstanding solo career, an eclectic album project (ALT) and two Finn Brothers albums...all have which have well and truly cemented Tim Finn's position in music folklore.
More recently, there has been a resurgence of love for all things Finn with the recent Finn Brothers album 'Everyone Is Here', the hugely popular 'She Will Have Her Way' tribute album and the triumphant Split Enz reunion tour of Australia. It's been this resurgence, coupled with Tim's desire to again express himself as a solo artist that has resulted in the songs on 'Imaginary Kingdom'.
Imaginary Kingdom was recorded in Nashville...not the Nashville that instantly comes to mind, think more in the deep, cool underbelly of this musical city. The band Tim and producer Bobby Huff (Julian Lennon, LeAnne Rimes, Jordan McCoy) assembled for this album consisted of Huff on drums/keys/BV's, engineer John Painter on bass and brass and school friend Dale Oliver on guitars. They all connected with Tim's songs and played it from the heart in Painter's back-yard studio. From the eternal optimism of first single 'Couldn't Be Done' to the widescreen beauty of 'Astounding Moon' and back to the ascending bass lines and yearning melody of 'Horizon'.
All songs on the album were written by Tim alone and he will be in the UK to promote the record, week of single release, with a one off show at The Scala and will return in the new year around the release of the second single for a string of UK dates.
