Formed a few years ago in Tynemouth, a beach town in the North East of England, The Motorettes grew up hanging around the same streets. Jed and Jack are brothers, Robin lives around the corner.
The Motorettes believe in the raw power and beauty of rock and roll. They believe in two and a half minute pop songs, great melodies and even greater harmonies.
The Motorettes are a Rock and Roll band, an instant burst of emotion coming towards you at a hundred miles an hour. Think of bands like The Ramones, The Beach boys.
Think of 60s girl groups like The Ronnettes and The Shirelles. Now you're getting it. The Motorettes believe great rock and roll songs are about girls, about the escape toward something bigger.
Great rock and roll songs make you feel like an arrow that could shoot right through. This is what the Motorettes do.
There are no uniforms or prescribed ways to behave, no decisions about the way they should sound. The Motorettes are real, they're a band, and it's effortless. They don't need to look the same to seem like they fit together, take one of them away and it wouldn't work, that's a gang, that's The Motorettes.
Signed to Kitchenware Records in 2005, they took a chance. There have been a lot of trends in Rock music lately. The Motorettes have been aware of these trends but refuse to follow. Don't be stylish, be timeless. This is the Motorettes.
