The Lovegods headlined the fourth Tiscali Showcase - Christmas Special at the Bar Academy Islington on December 10 2004 - and you can listen to audio from the Lovegods below.
The LoveGods fought off stiff competition to be crowned winners of Radio 1's prestigious One Music Best Unsigned Band contest winning a recording session at the world famous Maida Vale Studios, 3 weeks airplay as well as the opening slot at One Big Weekend supporting Keane, Franz Ferdinand and Ash. They took their crown and she-devilish love goddess Déah and her beautiful LoveGods showed the Derry audience what a little bit of love can do.
Since meeting on a Parisian side street six years ago, The loveGods have built up a reputation as one of the most electrifying live bands in the UK. Playing over 100 gigs in the last year alone, the band have played alongside acts as diverse as the Fun Lovin' Criminals, Jamelia, Alabama 3, and The Darkness and recently packed the house at the 500 capacity Old Market venue in their home city of Brighton. Moving from delicate fragility to fiery intensity, The loveGods entertain and captivate from the moment they get on stage. With their explosive dynamics, heart wrenching vocals, painfully potent melodies and eccentric sense of humour the 'Gods will take you through the full spectrum of human emotions'.
Their dark and intensely honest mini album 'Between Dogs & Wolves' in songs like '14 Hours', sleazily playful in tracks like 'Sadie Mercedes', Between Dogs & Wolves explores the shift between light and shade which is the human experience.
First and foremost a rocking live band, The loveGods appearance on the Leftfield stage of Glastonbury was typical; mud, music, mayhem and power failure during the set (they were too loud), the band jumped into the audience and played a 100% unplugged gig. Punk as it should be, they had the time of their lives and to quote the stage MC "Joe Strummer would've been proud." The LoveGods are:
Déah - singer, guitarist and occasional bass player. Melbourne Girl
Art - Guitarist and backing vocals. Parisian
Rob - Drummer and backing vocals. East Ender
Mezza - Bass. Melbourne Boy
