More on My Luminaries:
If the following six months are anything like as successful as the last, we'd advise you to "catch them on a small stage now before you need binoculars to see them" (BBC.co.uk). With airplay on XFM and Radio 1's ONEMUSIC, an increasingly inspiring and prestigious run of gigs, and a superb new EP since completing their line up in January of this year, the future is bright for this London based band.
These likely lads have spread a frenetic breath of much needed musical fresh air throughout the capital leaving audiences trembling with a melange of excitement and euphoria. And who wouldn't tremble, when faced with a "freakishly energetic live performance" (The Badger, Sussex/Brighton University Student Newspaper), harking back to the early days of Blur as unpredictably versatile front man James takes us through the extremes of utter control and complete disarray. With the lyrical panache of a modern day Talking Heads, and Pavement's eccentric musical sensibility, "dapper quartet" My Luminaries are a refreshing alternative to re-hashed seventies blues rock whose "popularity stems from their renegade musical style" (BBC.co.uk). For a band "every inch like rock stars" (NWN Arts and Entertainments), emotion and entertainment are inseparable elements of modern music proving their ain't nothing wrong with having a sensitive side". Providing you've got the rock n roll aggression to balance it out. And they have.
With an impressively extensive musical background, the band are comprised of the irrepressible James Ewers on lead vocals, guitar and keyboards, the scarily identical twins' (Reading Chronicle) Saul and Dylan Perryman on lead vocals and bass guitar, and guitar and backing vocals respectively, and the awesome Sam Stopford on drums. This unique and indestructible line up has recently been tearing up such reputable London venues as Underworld in Camden, The Peel in Kingston, The Catapult Club at The Amersham Arms in New Cross and The 12 Bar Club, leaving only a trail of smashed keyboards, abused guitars and screeching microphones to remind the audience that they have truly witnessed something special.
