Catch opened the second Tiscali Showcase at the Bar Academy Islington on Friday October 22nd 2004 - and we are proud to present the audio of three tracks from their great set below.
All audio engineered live by Ed Jackson.
Fed up with struggling to find a venue brave enough to go with the unknown, instead preferring to fill the bill with covers and tribute bands, Catch's moto has been self promotion and gigging on their own terms.
Consisting of three brothers, Tony (lead and bv) Chris (drums) Mike (vocals, rythm and keys), plus the handy bass skills of good friend Jamie Anstell, the band maintain that the key to their success is practice, practice, practice.
Having only been together for one plus years it is obvious that their is a strong connection between all it's members.
Musical tastes range from the oasis to eminem, snow patrol to The Smiths but this isn't so obvious when it comes to the melodic, and often hard rock that is delivered.
With no less than twenty songs to their name, with the bulk of the writing provided by eldest brother Tony the emphasis is often on keeping the songs short but sweet - "we want people to remember our music and enjoy our songs in the same way as we do...there are moments when you hear a song on the radio for the first time it it makes you take notice..it's a burst of adrenaline and excitement and then you want to repeat that experience all over again..why play a nine minute epic that tires you out after 3 or 4 plays..we rock, the melodies are strong and that's just the way we like it! " (Mike)
Of playing the Tiscali Showcase, their first London gig and one that will provide an audience consisting of not only friends and family, Tony says "...this is the oppurtunity we've been waiting for..to take our music farther afield and show people what we are all about..no pretence, just good solid rock...and playing with bands like the Alps and the Wire Daisies is a huge confidence booster...those guys are already several steps ahead but we will be doing our best to catch them up!"
