2002-11-04BBMAK - Out Of My Heart
Pretty huge everywhere else in the world 'except' on their home soil, UK pop trio BB Mak return with a brilliant new single that looks like the one to put them well and truly on the map on these shores.
Well-crafted, uplifting rock-tinted pop, 'Out Of My Heart' is a superb first insight into these talented lads' forthcoming album and also serves as a perfect little reminder of exactly what we've been missing.
And with an exclusive new track, 'Never Going To Give You Up', and the brilliant new video also included, this single is a must for all the fans not-to-mention those just getting aboard the BB Mak pop bus.
Having broken America quite successfully, the Mak-boys are back in their homeland to make a splash.
On the strength of this single, they should do.

Shania Twain - I'm Gonna Get You Good (Shania is pictured above)
She's been away for a few years, but on the evidence on this comeback single (the first from her forthcoming album) she hasn't been resting on her laurels.
Mixing lashings of pop into her usual musical blend, it's a great comeback that should see Shania adding plenty of new fans to her already
massive fanbase.
With an uncomprimisingly eighties feel to the production and video, Twain's Robert Palmer-esque drawl is neverthless beautifully contagious.
Always one for noughties women's lib - 'Your a fine piece of real estate and I'm gonna get me some land' is perhaps the stand-out line of the song.
Penned with long-time collaborator Robert 'Mutt' Lange, 'I'm Gonna Get You Good' finds country-rock chanteuse Shania Twain picking up exactly where her staggeringly successful last album, 'Come On Over', left off.
Both formats also include bonus tracks 'In My Car (I'll Be The Driver)' and 'C'est La Vie'.

British Sea Power - Childhood Memories
A haunting but seemingly apocalyptic ballad from the Sea Power boys.
With drawled vocals, and a catchy little chorus, spiralling into a Pulp-esque finishing phase (massive guitars, synths and hectic high pitched noise), this tune really grows on you.
Backed by the spikier, punkier 'Favours in the beetroot fields', and the gentle and lovely 'Strange Communication', this band call into mind some darker Pulp, Strangelove at their softest, and occasionally, even a tripped-out Cure.
Having garnered much praise from the music press of late - almost making it to 'music press darlings' status - the band show on this single why they have gone down so well with crowds touring with the likes of Pulp, the Libertines, Ikara Colt, and Cooper Temple Clause.
They also tour soon too. Keep it peeled here for more news on your newest favourite band.

Missy Elliot - Work It
Probably one of the hardest working people in hip-hop, Missy Elliott takes time out from work with Tweet (as well as her many guest appearances) to get back down to business with Timbaland on a typically forward-thinking new single, 'Work It'.
What can you say? The first track from her forthcoming album, it's another classic!
Retaining her trademark rhyming sound and the duo's cutting-edge production stamp, it might not be as immediate as 'Get Ur Freak On' but, given time, it proves itself as yet another ground-breaker for the rest of the hip-hop community to strive for.
Who else would make the hook of the song a piece of backwards vocals? Genius.

Sophie Ellis Bextor - Music Gets The Best Of Me
She's sold over a million albums, hit the top spot in ten countries and performed all over the world from Sydney to Rio De Janeiro and now pop-minx Sophie Ellis Bextor is back with brilliant new single 'Music Gets The Best Of Me'.
A definite dancefloor anthem in waiting, it's another sparkling pop jewel that re-unites Bextor with song-writing partner Gregg Alexander (New Radicals) on one of her best singles to date.
Whilst Flip'n'Fill take on remix duties and craft yet another trance-pop crossover anthem alongside other mixes and bonus tracks.

Britney Spears - I Love Rock n' Roll
Featured in her movie debut 'Crossroads' (and lifted from the latest album), Britney Spears returns this week with her own brilliant take on Joan Jett's 80's rocker 'I Love Rock'n'Roll'.
A punchy mix of sexy attitude and cool pop nous, Britney drags the old classic bang up to date with the kind of raw feisty sass appeal that still gives her a head start over many of the young upstarts currently after her crown.
This release also includes an exclusive Karaoke version for all the potential Britneys out there alongside a previously unreleased Darkchild mix of 'Overprotected'.

Queens of the Stone Age - No One Knows
The first single from an album that's been widely hailed as a work of rock genius, 'No One Knows' is a dramatic taster for anyone that's not already experienced the Queens Of The Stone Age sound. And for those that have, well don't worry, it comes with some great bonus tracks as well!
A perfect union of spiky riffs, catchy melody and raw metal power (lead singer Josh Homme explains that it's influenced, bizarrely, by Polka), 'No One Knows' also features a show-stopping drumming performance from Foo Fighters' mainman Dave Grohl.
All formats include exclusive bonus/live tracks with CD two adding the brilliant video.
