Cassius - the Sound Of Violence
A quite superbly infectious record that grabs you by the pelvis straight away with its jangly guitar hook and
massive fuzz bass. A total clubland smash, surely, as well as a healthy cross-over showing those indie-electronica bands a thing or two about how to do it. Simple and effective: 'I feel like I wanna be, inside you, when the sun goes down'. I can feel the whole of Ibiza singing along as I speak.

Safri Duo - Sweet Freedom
Building on their 2001 MTV Europe Award for the Best Nordic Act and smash hit 'Played Alive', The Safri Duo, otherwise known as Uffe Savery and Morten Frlis, have now re-recorded Michael McDonald's dubious hit Sweet Freedom, with mixed results. While it is obviously rhythmically dynamic and has a catchy chorus, the dated feel of the song perhaps holds the track back from a totally compelling commercial appeal. Look out for the remixes though.

LeAnn Rimes - Life Goes On
Singer-songstresses are in much abundance around the charts these days (Vanessa Carlton, Avril Lavigne, Michelle Branch, Gemma Hayes), so there is the feeling that Ms Rimes has something to prove again what with all this competition.
Despite the quite stunningly beautiful video (all chase scenes and lavish colours), this is a pleasant but ultimately unchallenging pop song. However, this may not be its death, as annoyingly, it surreptitiously lodges itself in your head...

The Strokes - Someday
Though the hype has dropped on the Strokes (erm...they've kind of proved themselves now), the quality of their well-structed New York garage songs has not. This is a choice song from the album,
'Is This It', and deserves an incredibly high chart position, and your utmost attention of course.
Bouncy, ragged, agressive music schooling for your ears.

Holly Valance - Down Boy
Another well produced sure-to-top-the-charts track with (now signature) Turkish feel. Will the gorgeous Ms Valance's album live up to the singles strength though?
