2001-09-12Well its been awhile. Long enough for you to think that Butch, Shirley and co might be gone for good. Thankfully, though, Garbage are back with a new single, Androgyny: a taster of what we can expect from their forthcoming album, beautifulgarbage.

After the release of Version 2.0 in 1998, the band went on a mammoth 20-month world tour before returning to their Wisconsin studio in April 2000 to start work on album number three. The result is beautifulgarbage, which will be released on 1 October.
The new album is reported to be more diverse than their previous material. Certainly, Androgyny, while it retains that dark undertone, is a more playful, less epic tune than previous singles.
Duke Erikson: "In some ways this record may sound like a sharp departure from the first two, but think we really only expanded the turf we'd established for ourselves and used a simpler, more stark approach in doing so.
Androgyny mixes electronica, pop and hip hop influences with rockin guitars and traditional songwriting to excellent effect. Its what guitar music should be, and Shirley Manson has more talent in her little finger than all the Kylies and wannabe starlets put together.
Androgyny is out on 24 September.
