Patrick Wolf - Magic Position

26th February 2007

The roots of this precociously talented young musician seem to stretch far, wide and beyond, from PJ Harvey to Stockhausen and English folk music to the legendary jazz trumpet player and singer, Chet Baker.

With third album 'The Magic Position', multi-instrumentalist singer-songwriter Patrick Wolf pushes the boundaries of pop music in his own inimitable style, genre splicing merrily along the way to dazzling effect.

Gone, for the most part, is the dark imagery of his previous releases and in its place emerges a shiny and new chart contender bursting with confidence and ambition.

'Accident And Emergency', the first single, is a glittery pop stomper complete with sirens, horns and complimenting guest vocals from Larrikin Love's enigmatic frontman Ed.

Other album highlights include the dramatically emphatic opener 'Overture', the ethereal beauty of 'Bluebells' and the innocent and majestic euphoria of the title track and second single.
