Meet the best new band of 2006- from Hollywood, California - Orson. Playing what their singer Jason Pebworth calls simply "two-guitar power-pop", or, equally simply, "rock and roll that girls can dance to", Orson have already clocked up a Number 1 single with their debut single, 'No Tomorrow', earlier in the year.
'Bright Idea', their debut album, consists of mostly songs about girls, about falling in or falling out of love. They form what is essentially a diary of Jason's own love life. "I torture myself over lyrics", he says.
"Ultimately, the best stuff, the funniest lines, come out of the most heartbreaking times".
With influences as far ranging as Queen and Led Zeppelin, to Radiohead, Flaming Lips and Elvis Costello, Orson's sound is not easy to pigeonhole, but is undeniably recognised as the kind of radio-friendly infectiousness that proved successful for Maroon 5.
