Album release date: 21st June 2004
One of the most influential songwriters of all time returns with his stunning new album 'Gettin In Over My Head'. Forty years after Brian Wilson co-wrote and produced the Beach Boys first #1 hit 'I Get Around' he has returned to the studio to write and produce his first album since 1998's critically acclaimed 'Imagination'.
The album features guest appearances by Eric Clapton ('City Blues'), Elton John ('How Can We Still Be Dancin?') and Paul McCartney ('A Friend Like You') as well as a harmony-laden epic called 'Soul Searchin' featuring the magnificent voice of Brian's late brother Carl. One of several songs on the album written years ago, 'Soul Searchin' takes a session vocal by Carl and moulds it onto harmonies laid down by Brian. Elsewhere the title track and 'Desert Drive' offer fans their first tastes of Brian's collaborations with producer Andy Paley in the mid-1990s.
'Gettin In Over My Head' follows Brian's triumphant return to the music scene with his 'Pet Sounds' and 'Smile' tours to consolidate his position as a true musical genius. Whilst 'Smile' is continually left incomplete it is tremendous to hear the great man producing wonderful new music. 'Gettin In Over My Head' is another magnificent outing from this musical legend.
