Andrea Corr MBE @ UK Festival Awards 2007

Andrea Corr MBE @ UK Festival Awards 2007

After starting life as the lead singer of The Corrs, Andrea Corr soon broadened her horizons. After a string of hits with the Irish quartet she branched off to try her hand at acting with several successful roles in the likes of Evita. In June she released her first solo effort ‘Ten Feet High’.

Virtual Festivals: You've just presented an award, how did that go?
Andrea Corr: “It was great. I presented it to John Giddings who's a friend and supported us [The Corrs] at the very beginning of our career.”

VF: That goes back a fair way then...
AC: “Back to the very beginning. He got hold of a demo tape of ours; he liked it, so he put us on tour with Celine Dion which was a really big thing for us. We'd done about seven gigs and suddenly we were playing to a big audience - he was great to us.”

VF: What's been your best festival experience?
AC: “We played Glastonbury once. It was a different time though and pop bands like us didn't usually play there.”

VF: So you paved the way for pop bands at Glastonbury?
AC: “I don't know about that but we were one of the first pop bands there.”

VF: Also, you had a solo album out recently - any festivals, gigs or concerts planned around that?
AC: “I haven't got a band!”

VF: I'm sure if you asked some people they'd say: “I can play the tambourine.”
AC: “I don't really have any plans, I just enjoyed making the record and I'm happy with it.”

VF: Brilliant, we'll hopefully see you at a few festivals next year.
AC: “Yeah. Well you should be part of the band!”

VF: I'd very much like that, lets swap details later.
