Following the stupendous swagger and stomp of their "Message From Yuz" EP, Matt Bishop, Switches peculiar prodigy, provides you with one of the biggest hooks ever seen since Captain Ahab's fishing rod.

Lay Down The Law (an NME Track of the Week) has been a standout sing-a-long staple of the live sets on sold out shows supporting The Rakes and The Automatic. Matt has been writing songs since he was four, bouncing tracks on a fisher-price tape recorder like some mini-Epworth. Finally forming the band with Ollie Thomas (guitar), Max Tite (bass) and Jimmy G (drums), they all lived in a flat next door to a Guildford brothel with paper thin walls, and appropriated their neighbours constant banging for Lay Down The Law's backbeat, giving a whole new meaning to 120 bpm.

"All these weird middle aged blokes were forever in and out, we used to watch as the police, who were just as dodgy, came round in unmarked cars. I don't reckon they were in there just to close them down either." says Matt.

Following triumphant Reading and Leeds appearances, Switches left for the US where they're currently recording their debut album with Rob Schnapf (Elliot Smith, The Vines, Nine Black Alps) for release in early 2007. 'Lay Down The Law' was produced by Jim Abiss (Editors, Kasabian, Arctic Monkeys) and will be a very limited (500 only) Degenerate Music 7" gold vinyl release, b/w 'Solid Gold'.

There's also a four track digital package ('I've Got A Problem', 'She'll Push Me Away') available through all the usual channels.

Switches also launch their website www.switchesmusic.co.uk on 1st Oct with an exclusive, free download of The Rakes remix of Message From Yuz.

Jamie from The Rakes says, "We're friends with Switches since they toured with us and we enjoyed getting to grips with 'Message From Yuz' - our remix certainly isn't new rave, unless it took mogadon by accident - there's a great bassline, a massive riff and lots of people shouting "HEY!" - we lost a xylophone in there somewhere too."
