Tiscali: We are delighted you are headlining the Tiscali Showcase on Friday. Are you looking forward to the gig ?
Yes we can't wait. It's great to do a London gig & it will be the first one with the new line up featuring Vicky and Clare
Tiscali: What do you think of the Tiscali Showcase aim (to take the best emerging acts and give them massive ISP support)?
Thank you! Stuff like this is much neeed. We know there's been a few things like this but not on such a big scale as with someone like Tiscali.
Tiscali: Your great new single Sold will be out on Tough Cookie records on May 2nd. What is it about a download single that appealed to the band and label?
It's different. No-one really buys singles anymore - they're too expensive as well & our single will only cost 69p ! So it's cheap and easy for people to buy!
Tiscali: What is so special about this new single - what does it say about the band?
We write songs and don't really know what they're about! Every time someonme buys a download it should sing the line "Sold" at them! Sold is also really fresh and it's the direction we're going in.
Tiscali: Could you talk us through the new video for Sold. We hear we might have a Tiscali exclusive for a period of time.
It's black and white. It starts with Clare's legs and then Vicky's hips and then Gemma's crotch. It's like "Basic Instinct!" (joke) && we played with camoflage all over the studio walls.
Tiscali: Could you tell us a little bit about touring with Towers of London - we heard you blew them off stage!
It was great fun. We love the Towers! Gem got them on the babyshambles tour & they said they wanted us!
Tiscali: What's the best thing about being an all girl lineup?
You can get away with murder! We do get told off now though. We like sitting gossiping and giggling. Although the Towers of London spent more time in the mirror and used our hairpsray more than we did on tour!
Tiscali: Where do you shop for clothes? Primark - pound a pair! H & M. Charity shops, down the market, vintage retro clothes shops.
Tiscali: Who's your all-time female music icon?
(after much discussion, denial and singing) Joan Armatrading, Skin from Skunk Anansie, Debbie Harry, PJ Harvey, Belinda Carlisle, oh and Britney.
Tiscali: What has been the highlight of your career so far?
Playing on big stages. Getting the single out on May 2nd and May the 4th be with us for the Wednesday midweek charts!
Tiscali: Gem, so much has been written about Pete Doherty at the moment. Do you think he deserves all the press?
He's going out with a supermodel so people want to know about it. I don't like hearing about the drugs and he should be getting the press for his music.
Tiscali: Do you all rate his music?
Yes (all). He's a damn good songwriter. He writes incredible songs. It's not a cliché but he really is a poet.
Tiscali: Gem, to what do you put down your ability to stay away from the nasty side of the Babyshambles tour earlier this year?
Plain stubbornness! I've grown up around musicians and seen too many people slide down that slippery slope. So I stuck to being on the door bus watching "Finding Nemo" and smoking Golden Virginias roll ups!
Tiscali: Best of luck with everything, we will be supporting you 100% in your music and releases. What are your hopes for the future?
Reading Main stage in 2 years - being in the top 3 bands. If we actually say that enough maybe they'll believe that they've booked us; that's how Daphne and Celeste did it!
