All about this artist
Biography:
Violet Indiana is the creation of ex-Cocteau Twins sonic architect Robin Guthrie and vocalist Siobhan De Maré (born Siobhan Meehan), who had previously sung with the short-lived Mono. The duo first met in 1999 and quickly struck up a working partnership, despite the fact that De Mare had never previously heard a Cocteau Twins song.
The Choke EP was released in late 2000 on Bella Union, the label run by Guthrie and former Cocteau Twins bandmate Simon Raymonde. Guthrie's production on the EP was reminiscent of his work with the Cocteau Twins, although De Maré's sensuous vocals added an extra layer to his trademark ethereal pop sound.
The album Roulette offered more manna from heaven for fans mourning the demise of the Cocteau Twins. The US-only Casino collated material from the duo's UK EPs.
