Biography:
This Anglo-Scottish duo (hence the name) was unintentionally formed when Paul Keenan, a Strathclyde policeman, apprehended Daz Sampson (born Darren Sampson, 1974, Stockport, Cheshire, England) in a Glasgow street. With no crime committed and a musical connection established in the ensuing conversation, the duo found Sampson's need for a production partner could be easily realised, Keenan having just purchased a new mixing desk.
In early 2004 Sampson heard the Hall And Oates song "Out Of Touch" on a computer game, and saw its potential for a Uniting Nations cover version. The subsequent single was a big UK club hit but once released commercially found favour in Europe and eventually worldwide.
Following up with a second UK Top 10 hit with the original song "You And Me", the duo completed their first long player for Gusto a year and a half after the single's release. The album presented the big vocal hits alongside a selection of smoother songs, with vocalists Jinian Wilde, Donovan Blackwood and Laura More included, the latter fronting the rather clunky third single release, a cover of the Quincy Jones hit ?Ai No Corrida?.
Two years later the track ?Do It Yourself?, sampling the Gloria Gaynor original, enjoyed club success.
