Biography:
British duo the Ting Tings are singer Katie White and multi-instrumentalist Jules Di Martino. Their simple, infectious blend of dance music, synthesisers, New Wave, and pure pop made them a success straight out of the gate. The group, which formed in 2006 and whose name is loosely based on Chinese, enjoyed three British Top 40 singles from their 2008 debut album, WE STARTED NOTHING.
"That's Not My Name" hit number one, while the video for "Shut Up and Let Me Go" won the title of Best U. K. Video at the 2008 MTV Music Video Awards. In addition, the group won several honours at the 2008 U. K. Festival awards. While they didn't immediately have the same overwhelming impact in the U.
S. , they nevertheless made strong inroads into the American market, with their songs featured in several U. S. televsion series and in the trailer for the hit movie SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE.
