All about this artist

Biography:

Duo comprising Pharoahe Monch (born Troy Donald Jamerson, 31 October 1972, QUeens, New York City, New York, USA) and Prince Poetry, whose music is distinguished by both a rare knack for samples/rhythm tracks and a smooth lyrical flow.

Coming from Jamaica and New York, respectively, the band's members absorbed everything from jazz and reggae to gospel in their youth. They met at high school in 1986, signing to a small independent after honing their skills. No recordings emerged from the contract, and they switched instead to Disney-funded Hollywood Basic, scoring immediate success with the number 1 rap hit, "Walk Into The Sun", and a well-received debut long player (which also included a second hit single in "Open Your Eyes").

The title track, "Stress", from their second album set out their stall with an attack on racist taxi drivers, and music industry incompetents. Joined by Q-Tip (A Tribe Called Quest) on "Let's Funk", these were just two of the best tracks on another excellent album, with Prince Po indeed the ".

exec with the intellectual concepts that elevate you like steps" ("Let's Organize").
