All about this artist
Biography:
Born Holly Vukadinovic, 11 May 1983, New Zealand. Valance followed in the footsteps of Kylie Minogue, Jason Donovan and Craig McLachlan launching a pop career on the back of her role in the Australian soap opera Neighbours.
Valance's parents (her mother is English, her father is a Serbo-Croat) relocated to Australia when their daughter was aged only four. The teenage Valance made her name as a teen model, and by the time she was 17 her striking figure was already being exploited in a raunchy video for Australian boy band Human Nature.
Valance broke into acting in 1999 when she landed the role of Felicity "Flick" Scully in Neighbours, which in contrast to Minogue and Donovan's characters a decade earlier, cultivated her sexy image to the full. A pop career was a natural progression, and Valance duly signed a recording contract with WEA Records.
Her debut single "Kiss Kiss" was initially released in the UK, a shrewd move considering Neighbours enduring cult status overseas. The single debuted at UK number 1 in May 2002, owing in no small part to a provocative video that left little to the viewer's imagination.
The subtly titled follow-up, "Down Boy", reached the number 2 slot the same October. Valance's debut album, Footprints, rehashed the Eastern-tinged urban sound of the two singles ad nauseam.
