Biography:

In 1995, former Split Enz and Crowded House members Neil Finn (born 27 May 1958, Te Awamutu, New Zealand) and his elder brother Tim Finn (b. Brian Timothy Finn, 25 June 1952, Te Awamutu, New Zealand) collaborated for the first time since Crowded House released the multi-million-selling Woodface.

Their debut album as a duo saw them use a variety of instruments, from tea chest bass to keyboards and ukuleles, marking a change from the pop sound of their previous bands. However, the harmonies and songwriting, were still extremely strong, with a folk-based sound on tracks such as "Last Day Of June" and "Angel Heap".

The tracks were written during Crowded House's break with Capitol Records in late 1994, and produced with Tchad Blake in just over a month for Parlophone Records. Recorded in York Street Studios in Auckland in their native New Zealand, all instruments were played by the Finn brothers with the exception of some percussion by Blake and a bass line on "Kiss The Road Of Rarotonga" by Dave Dobbyn.

The result was a less self-conscious record than either had been involved in for some time, but the sheer laid-back feel of the record left their previous audience underwhelmed and frustrated. Both brothers resumed their respective solo careers following the release of Finn, maintaining their reputations for producing quality adult pop music and occasionally guesting on each other's records.

The brothers returned to the studio in the new millennium to record a new duo album. The excellent Everyone Is Here, a record of subtle charms and hidden musical depths, was released under the Finn Brothers name in summer 2004.
