All about this artist
Biography:
This Temecula, California, USA-based post-hardcore band has its roots in Numb, a late 90s outfit featuring four-fifths of Finch. Nate Barcalow (vocals), Alex Linares (guitar), Derek Doherty (bass), and Alex Pappas (drums) enjoyed little success with their sub-Deftones sound, and were struggling for direction before being joined by second guitarist Randy Strohmeyer.
A name change coupled with Strohmeyer's persistent harrying of record companies led to a contract for Finch with the Drive-Thru label. The quintet released their debut EP in October 2001. Falling Into Place was an excellent collection that helped define Finch's trademark sound.
Their heartfelt fusion of hardcore and pop punk was honed close to perfection on the band's exceptional long-playing debut, What Is It To Burn. Recorded with producer Mark Trombino and featuring guest vocals from Glassjaw's Daryl Palumbo on two tracks, the album helped place Finch at the forefront of the highly popular emo scene.
(NB: Not to be confused with the 70s Australian hard rock band of the same name.
