All about this artist

Biography:

The second musical venture formed by Brighton-based brothers Alex White (born Brighton, East Sussex, England; vocals/guitar) and Tom White (b. Brighton, East Sussex, England; drums). The duo recorded three self-funded albums under the name Feltro Media before signing a recording contract with db Records in 2001.

Opting to jettison their original moniker, the duo were briefly known as Soft Parade before the threat of legal action from a Doors tribute band forced a slight alteration. The Whites recorded most of the material for the Electric Soft Parade debut in their bedroom using digital mixing programmes and an iMac.

Holes In The Wall was an impressive work by two musicians barely out of their mid-teens, and gained acclaim from all sectors of the music press. The album's endearingly retro psych-pop sound demonstrated a keen grasp of pop history, in particular echoing the work of 90s indie darlings the Boo Radleys.

The brothers subsequently recruited Matt Thwaites (b. England; bass) and Steve Large (b. England; keyboard) for live work, and signed to major label BMG Records for their second album, The American Adventure. The musical eclecticism on show was even more impressive than the debut and attracted substantial critical praise.

BMG appeared unwilling to embrace the band's adventurous spirit, however, and the two sides parted company the following year. The Whites worked with Eamon Hamilton (British Sea Power) and Marc Beatty in Brakes, before resuming recording activities with Electric Soft Parade.

The first signs of new material arrived in December 2005 with the six-track EP The Human Body, on the Truck Records label. The full-length No Need To Be Downhearted followed at the start of 2007.
