Biography:
Born Cassandra Ventura, 26 August 1986, New London, Connecticut, USA. This multi-racial dancer and model enjoyed one of the most unexpected US hits of 2006, when the mid-tempo R&B track "Me & U" crossed over to the mainstream US Top 10 in the summer.
Ventura began modelling for the Wilhelmina agency at the age of 14, earning places on campaigns for Adidas and Abercrombie & Fitch. She relocated to New York after leaving high school and was introduced to writer/producer Ryan Leslie. One of the tracks the duo worked on, "Kiss Me", came to the attention of former Sony chairman Tommy Mottola, who signed the singer to a management deal.
She then signed a recording contract with Sean "Puffy" Combs' Bad Boy label and began working on her debut album with Leslie. One of the first tracks to be completed at the sessions, "Me & U", became a major club hit at the start of 2006 before crossing over to the mainstream Top 3 in the summer.
