Diluted oil?

I have a two stroke Aprilia 50cc moped and have topped up the oil reservoir with petrol by mistake. I have taken out the petrol from the top of the oil, but will the petrol have diluted the oil, and will it evaporate if I leave the oil reservoir cap off for a few days? Thanks.

The mechanic says...

It is possible that the petrol may already have diluted the oil, even though you have removed as much as possible from the top of the oil tank. Ideally, completely empty the oil tank (if available, a small syringe or syphon equipment would be useful for this) and start again by re-filling the tank with fresh oil. The trouble is that if petrol has diluted the oil, the bearings and other working surfaces within the engine may be inadequately protected, and could possibly seize. Leaving the top off the tank for a few days may help in terms of petrol evaporation, but you still won’t be sure that all the fuel has gone. In addition, there’s a risk that dust and grit (etc.) could enter the tank, causing contamination problems and putting the engine at risk.
