6. Ferrari 348 TB

The 348 replaced the 328 in 1989 and was in production until 1995. The 348 is powerd by a 300bhp version of the 3.4-litre V8 engine first seen in the 288 GTO Supercar. Like the Mondial T, the 348 has the engine mounted longditudinally with a transverse gearbox. This was quite a change, as most small Ferrari’s prior to this were fitted with transverse engines. All Ferrari 348s use racing "dry-sump" oil systems to prevent oil starvation at high speeds and in hard corners. The oil level can only be checked (accurately) on the dip-stick when the motor is running due to this set up.
