Work at Festivals
The company Festaff [http://www.festaff.co.uk/] supplies casual staff for over a dozen music festivals in the UK including Bestival, Creamfields, Wickerman, Camp Bestival, Isle of Wight Festival, Sonispshere, Rockness and Beachdown. They are currently recruiting, so if you’re interested fill out this application for summer 2009 positions [http://www.festaff.co.uk/music-festival-job-application.asp] and if you’re successful you’ll be contacted four weeks prior to the event. Pay is minimum wage – but you do get free entrance to the festival and camp facility.
Census distributors
Every ten years, a census is held in England and Wales – during which community members are asked to fill in a questionnaire. The next one is in 2011 but they are running tests and rehearsals this year. They need people to distribute or collect sample questionnaires to households in specified areas in Birmingham, Lancaster, Newham and the Isle of Anglesey.
Distributors work either approximately 37 or 25 hours a week and rates are £10.46 per hour for part time and £9.25 for full time. Apply at www.censusjobs.co.uk.
Post your skills for free
If you have a saleable skill for the summer (or the winter for that matter) put up a free ad on Jobsgrapevine [http://www.jobsgrapevine.com].
This free, forum-based site is for people offering their skills, other people offering jobs and it even has sections for anyone offering rooms and other space for rent. Post yourself and your skills on the site for free and sit back.
Distribute Leaflets
Leafleters are always needed by shops, business, night clubs etc. to spread the news of their existence to the general public. Often leafleters are only needed a couple of times a week and usually earn upwards of £6/hour.
As a paid job with added exercise, this could also help you to get fit and get paid for it without wracking up huge gym bills. Try Gumtree [www.gumtree.com] to find a job as a leaflet distributor.
Distribute free papers

Be a freelance interviewer
NatCen [http://www.natcen.ac.uk/] has a national panel of over 1000, and all receive paid training and reimbursement of transport costs (if you have a car then this is ideal). You can get around £15 for a 35 minute interview, and around £5.50 for every hour spent travelling.
Be a Pedicab driver
Driving a Pedicab/bug/rickshaw is a great way to stay in shape, meet loads of people and offer emission free transport to London’s visitors. The BugBugs Community [http://www.bugbugs.com/riders.html] offers training with an accredited National Cycling Certificate awarded. T
he cost of training is £50, with a £100 deposit required for the duration of your employment, you keep everything you earn, so the harder you work, the more you make.
Streetcar
Streetcar [http://www.streetcar.co.uk/] employs teams including students to promote their brand on the street, especially in London. You can even ride a bike covered in their advertising around London for £8 an hour, stopping occasionally to promote the brand.
The shift times are 10:00am to 4:30pm with occasional extended hours, and they request that you’re physically fit, fun, and confident in promoting their brand. To become a team leader on the foot based street teams, you can earn £10 an hour. They ask for a minimum commitment of 25 hours per week which can be spread over a seven day period.
We asked Streetcar how best to find their street team work, and they said keep an eye on websites such as Gumtree.com and Promojobspro.com.
Work speciality events
For those who are not interested in working big sporting or concert events but prefer more intimate food, wine or baby shows Count On Me [http://www.count-on-me.co.uk/] is a national company servicing several events, with varying jobs available it is a great way to spend a few hours earning an extra bit.
Become a dog walker
If you’d like to combine your love of the outdoors and animals then dog walking can be a great way to earn some extra money too! Earnings range from £6-£10 per half hour.

Work at events

The publishing company Lonely Planet [http://www.lonelyplanet.com/] is looking for freelance writers with special knowledge of a city, country or region.You must be an experienced traveller and have professional writing experience, be able to write with authority, have excellent research and organisational skills and meet deadlines.
